My name is Tara Makhija and I am a sixteen year old girl who was recently diagnosed with epilepsy in 2022. After I was diagnosed, everything was different. I had to be cautious about what I did, I couldn't do some things my friends were doing, and I had to adjust my whole life around this disease. Not knowing what caused my seizures was also a very scary thing. For example, I wasn't allowed to drive. I had to be under my parents watch 24/7, and I had to stop playing my sport for a while as well. It was hard with the new changes in my life; being a teen on top of having epilepsy, but I was eventually able to make it work and to get back to my normal life as soon as possible. What I have realized was that being a teenager is already hard enough but having a disease which alters your life drastically is even harder. This is why I created this Nonprofit organization to help spread awareness for teens with epilepsy.

Hello there!
My name is Tiziana Maldonado and I am 16 years old. Although I myself do not have epilepsy, my good friend, Tara, was diagnosed with epilepsy back in 2022. My whole life, I grew up with Tara. Even before the day she was diagnosed, I was always by her side. The moment I realized that something was not right with Tara was when she kept having these "tremors." I remember having to babysit her little sisters while she and her parents rushed to the hospital. As a few months passed, Tara's mother informed me on Tara's diagnosis; Epilepsy. From that day on, I promised to support Tara on her journey through epilepsy. The day that tara asked me if I wanted to help her create a NonProfit Organization, I was ecstatic and accepted the offer. As someone who's life has indirectly been impacted by epilepsy, I want to help inform the friends and families of those with epilepsy and reassure them that everything will turn out fine.
